When Miki and I met Lauren and Alfred, and heard about their wedding plans, we immediately wanted to be apart of their day! It started off with getting ready at the Canary Hotel in downtown Santa Barbara. Then it was off to one of the cities most beautiful churches, Trinity Episcopal Church. One of my favorite images of the day was actually taken right before the ceremony started. Since Miki and I shoot together I can stay “behind the scenes” with the bride, her girls and her father. Miki has to stay up in front, waiting for everyone to come down the isle. Lauren was anxiously waiting to walk down the isle in the churches’ entryway and was dramatically lit by light flowing in from stained glass windows. One by one, each bridesmaid came over to give her calming and encouraging words. After the ceremony, the wedding party boarded the Santa Barbara Trolley and headed through town to Butterfly Beach, where Lauren and Alfred released doves. Then it was up to the Abbey Estate in Montecito. It was a fun filled, packed day with so many things for us to photograph. For the poolside reception, Lauren incorporated her love of candles and lanterns… they created the perfect romantic atmosphere. Their grand exit was one of my favorite ways to leave a wedding – under an arch of sparklers and into a classic car that drove them off and into their future… ok, sounds a little dramatic, but it was a perfect ending to the day!
